As I said the other day, the question is whether anti-gay prejudice in the U.S. has receded to the point it wouldn't emerge as an insurmountable obstacle to Buttigieg's nomination, and then his election. That might be true for the former, but I really don't know about the latter.

Q: Does it make a difference if the candidate is a gay man or gay woman? I have no data, but there seems to have been more gay woman elected to public office than gay men.

You could say the same for most freshman Dems in red districts, though. They’re advised to use their (limited) platforms to talk about economic issues and stay away from the cultural divide.

Maybe a fair statement- she’s never been ‘in your face’ about her sexuality. At the same time this is Minnesota and no one is in your face about anything. This isn’t that different. And the incumbent was FAR right. So it’s a big win!
