It's his own resort. He can use it as a tax write-off for either himself or the resort. I'd say that he'll try to use for both of them if he can find a way to do that.

You aren’t the first person to involve yourself in a college degree from a poor choice of selection. The degree doesn’t make or not make the person only the one learning can do that. I asked for Government to get out of my business and pockets and he’s doing that for me.
