it would have been instantly rejected by the ethics attorneys. Barr is a political so different rules may apply to him, so perhaps what he is doing is technically OK. But even if this is so his actions send a terrible message to the federal workforce and public. 2/

This is not a red/blue issue. It is an issue of public perception of the honesty of the government, which is why even the appearance of conflict is banned by ethics rules. Barr is showing remarkably poor judgement. /end
