This is, unfortunately, a common attitude held by antivaxxers and alt med believers, namely that you have total control over over your health through force of will controlling your behavior. It’s delusional.https://twitter.com/BraveArcanine/status/1231422081696444417 …

What say you to those who believe that vaccines are not the way to go because of the need for boosters vs actually gaining lifetime immunity. I understand 3rd world nations benefit still. I am 🤔 countries like the US with our advanced medicine and better hygiene standards.

To me it seems most massive outbreaks occur in areas of dense populations with poor hygiene and city health. Hence China is outbreak central.

"To me it seems" is the problem. The fact is that measles outbreaks occur *everywhere*, including in the United States. What you think is true is, in fact, wrong.

What hygiene standards changed that caused a sudden drop in measles cases as soon as the vaccine was introduced? Be specific and include sources.

It was proper use of PPE and virus transmission reduction techniques for HCP, hand washing, household laundry cleaning, and city waste management. The CDC would be my source... https://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/history.html …

I ask them if they are an infectious diseases expert explaining their research results, or if they are relaying the content of a national science body. If not, I suggest that they would be better off simply taking what the national science body says

🤔 when the science body is driven by politics and money it’s always wise to question it...that goes for any body you take counsel from...otherwise you would be a fool.

Getting the disease to not get the disease again isn't a logical idea. Getting the disease can cause disabilities and death.

Not all #vaccines require boosters; and the natural immunity from disease comes at the cost of risking the disease. Routine vaccines are approved when their benefits outweigh the risks int he U.S.; so preferring natural immunity means taking the larger risk.

Did you pay attention to the news last year? Major outbreak in New York. Do you get the difference between never getting the disease at ALL and never getting the disease again?

You have to be exposed to the measles twice to get lifetime immunity. The second case is usually much milder in most. Wild virus needs a booster too to give lifetime immunity.
