Furthermore, according to the ILO, over 61% of the world (2 billion ppl) work in informal economies: street vendors, domestic workers, sex workers, day laborers, people without national status. This is miscounted or not counted in GDP, so these people are undervalued.

Furthermore, the critical work of care work — household work, reproductive labor, the “work that makes all work possible”— traditional “women’s work” is all not counted for under GNP. That’s why care work is undervalued and women are expected to do care work for free in ALL jobs

The way we measure value in this world through GDP was designed to systematically steal from certain people: women, indigenous people, “3rd World” people robbed by imperialism of global finance. The measurements, laws, institutions, fiat — all designed for hiding elite robbery.

GDP measures the EXTRACTION of value from environment & human labor, while invisibilizing the ACTUAL intrinsic value of people, environment, real work which is always rooted in care.
