If they were treated as a publisher, these sites could then be held civilly, and in some cases criminally, liable for the content they allow. They could also be subject to libel and defamation suits, which they are currently exempted from due to not being a publisher. 2/2
Actually, as a platform they are. Otherwise, that would open up discrimination lawsuits to all platforms. Unless you are daft enough to want phone companies to have the ability to ban your phone service simply because they do not like you.

Phone calls are private, one's social media accounts are public, thats difference, Twitter does not have a vendetta against conservatives, they dont even know these scumbags, who grew like mushrooms in a few years. Tech companies judge the content and on that basis hand out ban.
