Someone should tell this to my Catholic church, which has a booth at pride every year and loves us wholeheartedly. It’s because of churches like St Leo that I came back to the Church after years away.

Thank you for sharing about a Catholic Faith community that upholds love and equity for all. I was raised Catholic and chose to leave the church for many reasons and this type of bigotry is but one of those reasons.

Not that you asked for my life story, but certainly the tweet you shared, opens a whole can of worms. The church—or bishops like that—have a lot of power & are heinously harming small children who are discovering who they are, sexually. If there is a hell, that man will rot in it

The child abuse, pedophilia, and coverup in the church is disgusting and evil. I thought seriously about not going back, but I feel a deep connection with my Oma (grandma) through the church. The best parts of the church for me are from women - like Mary and the female mystics.

My grandmother is 93 and when I do attend on a rare occasion, it is with her. What an interesting connection
my favorite parts were midnight mass, frankincense and choir. I love to harmonize, though I don’t sing much any more. I’m an alto. I miss that about the church.
