The aroma is very overplayed. I understand it used to be worse in the past, but I’ve only ever smelled it a couple times when I was in the port.
Lots of great Vietnamese, Thai, and Cambodian food. I love that it’s a working-class city where there are people of all professions: longshoreman, teachers, nurses, electricians, plumbers, etc. There are remote workers like me but I like that it’s not a city overpopulated w/ us.

Also, the best vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to: Quickie Too on the Hilltop.

Oh, and when the order came through to dismantle the mail sorting machines in post offices, Tacoma was one of only two places in the country that refused. I think that really epitomizes the city. Love it.
