Where was PAUL 19 years ago?? I was in SW CT, within commuting distance of the disaster (which is an odd but relevant metric). It was not calm. I hope he takes the time to listen to Muslims at some point in his life. I remember many were viciously attacked. All were affected.
I was at work about 20 miles outside DC. News was moving so fast, people were fearing a nuke or dirty bomb was next, maybe the planes were just the beginning. I remember my boss telling everyone to stay at their desks and be calm and people just started getting up and leaving
Then I sat in traffic with a coworker heading away from DC for two hours with the AM radio on, trying to figure out what was going on, went to my parent’s house which was further from DC than the house I was renting with some other people in Arlington. Was the opposite of calm
Finishing a 10hr night shift of retail stocking. A manager said something about airplanes hitting and both towers down, it didn't sink in. Went home and saw one plane in, relieved she was wrong, watch another hit, jumpers, colapse - it was a replay, a horrendous loop.
Thank you for sharing that. I was teaching C period ESL with students from all over the world, and I watched while the initial shock and horror so quickly devolved into white students chanting "USA" derisively up and down the halls while my students and I worried for their safety
