I’m imagining an org of dues-paying members who vote on candidates — candidates and org leaders wouldn’t simply declare that new candidates have been added. The membership would be the deciding body.
I’m not thinking a third party, but rather people who would run as Dems. I think this is the fastest way to achieve power for a Green New Deal before 2030. Progressives can’t keep caving for us to achieve that. Climate change isn’t going to wait for a strategy that takes decades.
But doesn’t this year show you can’t work within the Democratic Party?? Even AOC seems to be selling out now. The dnc is an immoral gatekeeper of all progress & will fight it harder than they fight republicans. They *always* compromise to the right. Wish we could all go green.
But doesn't years and years and years of the Green party reaching way over 5% of the vote that a political Monopoly masquerading as a duopoly rules over control of ring any bells for anyone?

In my view, what would certainly be ideal is if we could get Green Party to the 5% threshold this election cycle & then building DSA & allied groups incl efforts at #3rdParty like @4aPeoplesParty and people continue to asses the districts they are running in. @meaganmday both/and
There was an interview she did not too long back, where she talked about a multifaceted approach. I feel it would be very ideal if we could get a movement leader to build up 3rd party efforts. People can continue to run as Dems, if they best choice for their district.
Was with you right up until you said "would run as Dems" as we've seen with @justicedems among many, many others, the Democratic party is as wholly for sale as the Republican party.
