So how's everyone doing? Have you been able to get unemployment if you need it?

I'm doing fine, but my mother was approved for unemployment over a month ago here in WA and hasn't seen a dime yet. Paid her mortgage with the stimulus money, but we'll be SOL again in a 2 weeks time.
That's terrible. I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope it comes through soon.

I understand the system wasn't built for a sudden burden like this, but it highlights for me how many of our social safety nets are built for cost-efficiency rather than forward planning and preparation. My mom will be okay because of her kids but many others will not be.
