Which is why we need social housing. Rent control, even when done right (by covering all homes), can only be a stopgap attempt to minimize harm while a real solution is established.

This summer, while I was observing a Mississippi Justice Court, I saw a pregnant woman lose her home b/c she didn't bring her rent receipts to court. Housing injustice is real, it's fueled by greed & capitalism, & I am so excited to see you run & put this issue front and center!

A plan like this should include prohibitive taxes on unoccupied housing to stop the property owners from forcing people onto the streets while homes sit empty.
