A man who is detained in Tacoma's immigration prison — and had been fighting deportation — found out his father was dying. He asked to be deported ASAP so he could see his father before he died. ICE said no. The man's father died with his son in a cage thousands of miles away.
This is the illogic of our immigration system. It doesn't make sense. It's not supposed to make sense. It's meant to be cruel. And it is.
