German healthcare is a giant pain as a consumer. Most people hire agents just to help them sort through it all and not get screwed. It's also not very affordable, it penalizes the self-employed, and it's extremely hard & expensive to get healthcare if you weren't born there.

Thank you for the perspective. Others have noted aspects that can be refined. My point was that Germany has a working system that joins state and private payors and focuses on wellness. US system is fragmented, expensive, and inefficient. Hits middle class hardest.

That’s true. I should also note that the German system hugely benefitted my grandmother. She was able to stay in her home much longer than she would have here, and get quality care for decades after my grandfather passed, because her healthcare wasn’t tied to his employment.
