  3. For developmental biology in non-model organisms, I’d say the average is about 3 years. Some papers go fast, but most end up taking a long time as you work through new methods.

  4. I should have said “submission” rather than “publish” since journalism reviews can take ages. So from start to submission how long does it take?

  5. Some universities have an annual paper requirement, for example: faculty should publish one paper per year. But different fields take different amounts of time. I’m curious: in your field what’s the average length of time between starting and publishing in an average journal?

    So happy that our moon jellies are large and healthy! These are the first jellyfish my labmate and I grew from polyps, which took a little over a month
