My second paper is out! We looked at calculating timescales of degassing at Cordón Caulle, Chile. The rocks have little remaining water so we used trace element diffusion! The paper shows how the metals moving & timescales vary during the eruption

Reviewers! Please stop ghosting me. I am a human too, and I understand that circumstances can change. If you tell me you're no longer able to review, I'll stop chasing you, I'll invite new reviewers, and your colleagues will get a decision more quickly. It's a win-win.

Honest thesis chapter titles: • Here’s what I said I was going to do • Here's what actually happened • Here's why it all went wrong • Here's what's next (but I'm probably not going to do it)

Does ur institute have a system for u to constructively evaluate ur supervisor? If yes, how do you do it? Is it helpful? What r the challenges? Being in academia for 10+ years I've not found hierarchy-based, one-direction evaluations 100% helpful. Every1 has room 4 improvement.

So important! Geology shouldn’t be seen as destructive to our environment! Earth sciences are crucial for sustainable development, contributing clean geothermal energy, mining of resources for electric cars and the development of carbon capture just to name a few

Going through my rocks from fieldtrips with a rocksaw, rediscovered this chunk of felsic sill with a twist. Shearing, or something more..?

My friend gave a talk! It's a great talk about sustainable mining! Good example to show to students about why geology is important to study and how they can get involved in sustainability and solving some big global problems!

Low carbon technologies are essential for the future but more discussions need to be had about where we are going to obtain the raw materials for them and how we are going to do it sustainably. talk is great viewing!

Does anyone else feel extremely fulfilled when they delete the last comment from their word document & the comment bar on the side disappears thus expanding the size of the text portion of the document?

This is important! Earth sciences, geology, etc. are critical fields for establishing sustainable, renewable, environmental resources that are key to the transition! If you want to actively change the future of this planet studying geology is a good place to start!

If you're mesmerized by the steamy eruption plume and wondering why it's creating so much , you’re not alone. Here’s a micro-crash course on the physics of volcanic thunderstorms for non-specialists. Thanks to for the incredible footage! (1/14)
