        In panic, fearing the air raid is prelude to an incoming Japanese invasion, many inhabitants of Darwin & even some Australian soldiers are looting from bombsites & fleeing south.

        A fictionalised version of the raid features prominently in the 2008 film Australia. Prior to this, much of the rest of the country had been unaware that Australia had ever been attacked. Source:wiki
