For me, given our intelligence agencies’ histories of chronic malfeasance, for longer than Trump’s been alive, I don’t see how it seems that far-fetched. We’re also waiting on proof (rather than “trust us, we know”) on Trump/Russia collusion. Our country is in a bad place.

It’s a sort of fuzzy thinking the flattens all instances of malfeasance. You’re saying that bc the FBI has done bad things, it’s equally likely they’ve done any bad thing we can imagine. But that’s not true. There are specific reasons those things happen when they did. Context.

Churchill really did let the Nazis bomb Coventry to conceal the Allies had cracked Nazi codes. But that doesn’t mean Bush did 9/11. The US really did give Black men syphilis in the Tuskegee airmen. But that doesn’t mean “The US invented AIDs” is a reasonable theory.

I don’t subscribe to “Bush did 9/11” or the AIDS one either. They faked the Gulf of Tonkin incident to escalate the war in Vietnam, and they lied about WMDs in Iraq. These are facts.

We have had presidents who have lied. In almost every speech Trump has ever given he gives fake or made up information to boast or manipulate the narrative. If we're basing future actions on past ones, then Trump is a liar and I can't believe him.
