I suffer from depression, and our shambles of a mental health system has left me mostly untreated. I definitely agree our system needs radical improvements. But statistically the mentally ill are far more likely to be victims, not perpetrators, of violence.

Statistically, how much more likely are people to be victims rather than perpetrators of public mass shootings? You’re conflating and misusing statistics. I’m trying to help. You are *not* in the same category as mass shooters.

I’m not conflating and misusing statistics. There have been studies done on the relationship of mental illness and violence. I told you exactly what the studies show.

The studies lump all mental illnesses together. Do you believe all mental illnesses are equally as likely to result in outward violence?

Given what I just shared about my life and the fact some depressives have killed? Given that every human is capable of monstrous acts, even if they are 100% sane (as the Friday shooter in Texas is)? Yes. I do. Sane or mentally ill, we are all capable of unspeakable evils.

Every human being is *not* equally capable of monstrous acts. If that were true, in a country with 100 million gun owners and over 350 million unregistered guns, we’d all be shot by now.

A shameful number of Americans have, in fact, been shot. More Americans have been killed by guns since 1968 than in all America’s wars combined. That doesn’t include killings by knife, tire iron, ceramic frog (yes it happened), and other murder methods. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna807156 …

We have awful socioeconomics in this country. 100% of the countries with a higher rate of gun homicides than the US have worse socioeconomic equality. 100% of countries with a lower rate have better socioeconomic equality. Fine. Let’s change our socioeconomics. I said do something, try something we’ve seen work elsewhere. I didn’t specify what to try first. I just don’t want anyone else living with a broken heart.

Neither do I. And I’m trying to fix the socioeconomics.
