Again, not all MI results in outward violence. Of the 33-35,000 gun deaths we have each year, 2/3 are suicides. I assume you believe the overwhelming majority of those suicides are related to mental-health issues, right? Why not assume similarly about the homicides?

We’re back to square one. Again, I argue the violence (even towards oneself) as a way to solve problems in our society is the issue at play, not MI. It appears we’re at an impasse. But with support of mental health parity and more research in MI & stigma, we’ll figure it out.
