I’ve been pretty reflective about this issue. As a student, I think a lot about it and my role as a researcher. I don’t think I’m biased, unless you’re simply referring to the fact that I disagree with your opinion, based on my reading & previous research studies of my own.
There are over 100 million gun owners with over 350 million unregistered guns in this country. If mass shootings were not a sign of mental illness, we’d *all* be shot by now.

Tens of thousands of us are each year. Mostly women by violent domestic partners. So common it rarely makes national news. But, by the same logic, we’d have all been shot by folks with MI now, too, since that number is 1 in 5.

Again, not all MI results in outward violence. Of the 33-35,000 gun deaths we have each year, 2/3 are suicides. I assume you believe the overwhelming majority of those suicides are related to mental-health issues, right? Why not assume similarly about the homicides?
