Not true. Depression w/suicide ideation is more dangerous to the individual. Also not always considered a SMI. Schizophrenia is not likely to result in violent behavior. Personality disorders are hotly contested. Psychopathy no longer exists in the DSM-5, I believe.

I’m speaking of outward violence, not self-harm. Which I believe was obvious. Also, that’s why I said “sometimes referred to as psychopathy”. Link between schizophrenia and violent crime: https://psychnews.psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/pn.46.17.psychnews_46_17_20_2 …

If you’re interested in how these narratives of dangerous, criminality, and social distancing have become ubiquitous in our culture, please read the work of Wahl, Corrigan, Link, Phelan, Stout, Villegas & Jennings, etc. There’s lots of good research available via Google Scholar.

Have you read about lead exposure and its relationship to schizophrenia? https://www.mailman.columbia.edu/public-health-now/news/lead-acts-trigger-schizophrenia … And have you read about current environmental lead problems in our country?

And yes, I’m aware that some folks are studying how lead impacts dopamine levels in the brain. This research is pretty young. Lots of things are being studied for teratogenic effects. But that still doesn’t mean that folks with schizophrenia are inherently violent.

Strawman arguments also reveal your bias. I never said “folks with schizophrenia are inherently violent.” I’m very careful with my wording.
