They only shifted because they realized they could use the LGBTQ community to garner power and money. The 1994 crime bill responsible for incarcerating millions of POC for victimless crimes was proudly signed by Bill Clinton and written by Joe Biden. Those are your party leaders

Yes, and Black folks were behind it as crime was high at the time.

Black congressional members were behind it. Which is like saying that black cops are okay with a particular law. “People in power” is its own group. Black people as a whole lost ground in terms of wealth during the Obama administration.
