For everybody who’s like, “We can’t afford a federal job guarantee”:
Take our nation’s GDP and divide it by every single person of any age, from babies through the oldest people we have, and it comes to over $58,000 per person.
The median individual wage is 1/2 that.

I’m not saying we should divide GDP equally among every person in the country. But if we did, a newborn baby would make DOUBLE the current median wage. And that median is based only on people with jobs. The question isn’t “can we afford it.” It’s “how can we afford not to?”

Having over 20 million healthy, working-age people without jobs harms almost everybody in the economy. And we can fix it. It’s not a matter of how we can pay for it. It’s simply a matter of will.

I’ve never been a Democrat and frankly I don’t know why you’d bring up a party. Democrats haven’t helped. “Redistribution of wealth” has been happening for decades and you’ve apparently been fine with it. I’m just saying we have to reverse it. This economy is unsustainable.pic.twitter.com/A9Zctu0aLr
