Wishing I was still in an office with @Kenny_Pryde looking at this thread - I’m simple minded on these things too. But sport specific drugs? I’m not buying that. If something enhances performance then it does so in any physical activity. WADA operating as a business - likely.https://twitter.com/realstevecox/status/987720444932308992 …

Ah JP, I wish I was still in an office with you too! The columnist is indeed deluded. Sport specific drugs? Bollocks. WADA as business, to some extent, yes. Supplements? Athletes have strict liability for whatever gets into their bodies.

Aye, whatever. Good luck arguing that at CAS.

Nobody’s arguing the legality, either. I’m arguing whether or not it’s good for the sport, and whether or not it creates a fairer racing environment. These appeals to authority you guys are set on arguing are ridiculous.

I guess from my POV, albeit simplistic; pro athletes train and consume the stuff (usually available through food) which their bodies need to sustain performance. See Arsenal Wenger about this. Anything beyond that pushes boundaries, brings doubt and unnecessary risks.

So, if you’re sore from working out, isn’t ibuprofen a performance-enhancing drug? Makes you less sore, and this enables you to compete at a higher level, right?

Look, just read this. This is a scholarly endeavor and they break down the BS of WADA piece by piece. They completely dismantle WADA here. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17511321.2017.1351483 …pic.twitter.com/eUnxaoLKi2

I’m not defending WADA. Athletes have brains though.

So do sanctioning bodies and promoters. Point is, WADA is idiotic. They create their own criteria for banned substances out of thin air and treat them as self-justifiable, when in reality they actually profit from banning athletes whether it helps the fairness of sport, or not.
