Sick of all this disingenuous nonsense from journalists. I work in a newsroom and it's disproportionately middle class and white. Hundreds of anecdotes won't change that fact. @OwenJones84 was right to point it out because the makeup of newsrooms dramatically affects the output

The stories of BME and working class communities will continue to be ignored if newsrooms are mainly made up of private school kids. This is blindingly obvious - why has everyone doubled down rather than admitting it and trying to actually do something about it?

Well, because this would mean actually being critical about their profession which a lot of journalists are allergic to. And it would mean realising they are mostly beneficiaries of privilege, which again is hard to imagine happening
