July 4, 1776. Rich, white land owners throw off the oppressive chains of foreign tyranny in order to set up a locally run version. Political parties are a distraction, a false dichotomy used to divide the populace and keep them fighting each other instead of the ruling class.
I don’t know when Congress became a thing rich people strived for after they realized being rich in and of itself wasn’t enough of an accomplishment, but it pretty much throws the idea of government being representative of the people right out the window.

Exactly. They're so disconnected from the normal, lower- and middle-class citizens that basically operate and work the city. Money doesn't bring eternal happiness; satisfaction from money remains for a short time.
