Trump supporters: You've serious misconceptions of leftism. Democrats aren't left. They're definitely not socialists. They're pro-war, anti-labor capitalists. Bernie is left of Democrats. Look what they did to him. We hate Democrats more than you. They're keeping us out.

Strategically yes, he does NEED the party, unfortunately. But, he's not going to have much problem leading the party in 2020, should he choose to run. Bashing neolib Democrats won't have much of an impact. He's the most popular senator. Only 8% of the party doesn't like him.
Parties are not ideological institutions. They’re designed to garner power and money. That’s it.
