The truth is that I would much prefer that we not have the proliferation of guns that we have. I wouldn’t think it necessary to have *none* but we certainly shouldn’t have 350 million of them. But I know gun owners, and there’s no way in hell they’re going to turn in their guns.
But not only are all but 5 million of these guns completely unregistered (so we don’t know where they are), but people have been making them legally at home for decades now. Millions of them.
