So... You can’t answer the question, but you think they can? Ok.

I did answer: have a gun buy back program like Australia did and a penalty for non-compliance. Nothing is 100% effective, but 1 life saved would be worth it...for me.

The ‘If you make laws, criminals will just break them, so what’s the point?’ argument, is one of the most embarrassing. I can’t believe people say that out loud, or write it where it can be seen. Hoo boy.

Drugs are banned... It’s not that laws don’t work, it’s that banning anything for which there is a market doesn’t work. Especially if there’s a ready supply of over 350 million of them in the public, and you can easily make them at home.

Works everywhere else...

No, it doesn’t! They don’t have a market. That was part of the point. Can you explain why the gun-homicide rate is the same in France and England, even though France has 5x the guns as England? Or why Brazil has 6 times our gun-homicide rate when we own 15x the guns?

Ummm because countries, people, and cultures vary? In Brazil's case, I'm guessing economics, corruption, and maybe even drought contributed to increased desperation and crime.

It’s *always* economics. At least you’re catching on. Brazil’s socioeconomic inequality is far worse than ours. In Western Europe, it’s far better than ours. But between France and England, it’s about the same, thus the similar gun-homicide rates despite the ownership disparity

And that’s my point. Our gun-death rate isn’t because of gun-ownership rates, it’s because of our terrible socioeconomics. No universal healthcare, huge wealth/wage gap, the war on drugs, etc. We fix those, we fix the gun deaths.

You think it will be easier to solve income inequality than it will be to collect assault weapons?

Absolutely, yes. No question. Gun owners aren't giving up their guns. No chance. And the government doesn't know where they are, especially the ones made at home.
