And it should upset you, too. Because imagine if universal healthcare actually got this kind of a push, and this kind of media coverage. It could change the world. And unlike #GunControl #GunControlNow, it *would* immediately save *thousands* of American lives *every month*.

But it universal healthcare doesn’t get this kind of a push because the healthcare industry are also huge advertisers. And because, again, people don’t seem to care about deaths that won’t happen to them. This is why white people are less incensed about POC killed by police, too.

I encourage everybody to *always*
#followthemoney. Ultimately, money is why certain things are covered by our media, and other things aren’t. It’s not morals or principles, it’s just money. The same money that allows 100 poor Americans per day to die for lack of health insurance2 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 7 polubionychPokaż ten wątek -
In the end, the hashtag says it best: It’s
#MarchForOURLives, which denotes the self-interest at play. If people who have health insurance were to march for universal healthcare, it would be altruism; ie#MarchForTHEIRLives Self-interest, as always, is the problem here.90 odpowiedzi 1 podany dalej 3 polubionePokaż ten wątek -

This is beyond dumb. The kids behind this march suffered a mass shooting at their school. They are marching so that others won’t have to endure the same nightmare. It’s not complicated.

They are exercising their USC guaranteed rights, to petition their government. I am SO glad that they understand that they can and that it has an impact. That's democracy.

36,000 Americans die every year for lack of health insurance. 3000/month. 100/day. Which means more children likely die *every day* due to lack of health insurance than have *ever* died in a mass shooting. Sooo...

... I would encourage Americans to march and protest to petition their government to get to the day of universal healthcare as an American right. I'm on your side.

Those marches don’t get mainstream media coverage. The healthcare industry is a major advertiser, and a major donor to both parties.

Just keep marching. It's called petitioning, and if we stop bitching, our representatives will think everything's fine.

Neither party has proposed anything that would actually prevent mass shootings here in reality, so that’s a false premise.
