Your signs blaming mental illness don't exactly make me, a multi-time survivor of gun violence & Bipolar person, feel welcome. People with mental illness are FAR more likely to be victims of gun violence than to perpetrate it. I support the march! But I won't be scapegoated.

Globally, countries almost all have universal healthcare. US not only doesn’t have universal healthcare, but our nation’s mental-health infrastructure was entirely defunded by Reagan in 1984. We now treat about 5% of the number of mentally ill than we did then.

That’s true to some extent. But the science has come a long way in the last 34 years, too. And the fact remains that we have legions of untreated mentally ill people here. And very likely we can impact gun deaths to a far greater extent through healthcare laws than gun laws here

Though many countries also have better mental health treatment there as well.

Brazil has 1/15th the number of guns and 6 times the gun-homicide rate, as one of many examples. They just don’t have school shootings.
