Sometimes it seems like all the things Republicans hate about Barack Obama aren’t true *and* all the things Democrats love about Obama are also false. Is it just me? https://twitter.com/aaschapiro/status/977584296088293377 …

I think you're overstating things a good bit on the Dem side. Dems generally know why they love Obama, and for substantive reasons. Policy didn't always meet expectations, but we also know what he was up against.

I think you’re proving my point. Some choices Obama made on his own: Deported more people in his slowest year than Trump did in his first year. Ran on expanding whistleblower protections but jailed more whistleblowers than all previous presidents *combined*. 1/

Increased funding to militarize police his first budget by almost 5 times the previous amount. Sent his DEA on over 270 raids into STATE LEGAL, MEDICAL marijuana businesses in the first 4.5 yrs of his administration. (The previous 12 YEARS combined = 242 such raids.) 2/

He bombed 7 COUNTRIES his final year in office. In fact, he's the FIRST PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY to be at war EVERY SINGLE DAY of two full terms in office. He brokered more arms deals with foreign governments than ANY PRESIDENT SINCE WWII. 3/

Despite acknowledging the truth of climate change, he INCREASED DOMESTIC OIL PRODUCTIONS BY A RECORD AMOUNT. Presided over a never-before-seen increase in domestic surveillance of Americans. And this doesn't even include his plan for the TPP, his failed healthcare plan, etc. 3/pic.twitter.com/fzibJNMv31

That should’ve been a 4... But these are all things he did on his own, and it’s not even a complete list. So, I think my point is very solid, don’t you? 5/5

No, I don't. You're cherrypicking. He also pushed through the first national guarantee of health insurance in our country's history. Dems also know they elected a center-left Dem, not Jill Stein.

Dems also have a more realistic expectation of how much leftward progress is possible in a country this ideologically diverse.

He didn’t pass a national guarantee of health insurance! There are 28 MILLION PEOPLE without health insurance here!

No insurance company can deny you insurance. That is the guarantee he provided. The rest is a mix of subsidies, mandates, and other heavy regulations on the insurance cos.
