...I ran into a registered Republican who, after agreeing with me on #UniversalHealthcare, made a good point: “Why does ‘healthcare’ cover everything but this (motions to teeth) and this (motions to eyes)?”
It’s like homeowners insurance covering everything but the roof.

It definitely is weird. So this man who voted for Trump, and whose wife is a nurse who voted for Stein, took my proposal a step further & said, “We need to make sure everything’s covered. A lot of diseases start in teeth, and healthcare should be about quality of life anyway.” 3/

This is why talking to the actual people matters. And this is ultimately a major part of why neither party will ever actually do what the people need done: They’re too busy courting donors and alienating the “other side” for them to possibly unite the public behind any issue. 4/
