If 51% of people decide 49% should be slaves, then what? The point is that the rights of the minority need to be respected and protected. That doesn’t happen with a direct democracy.

That’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying the minority have the same rights as the majority and thus cannot have their rights violated by said majority. It’s plain English.

Isn't that what I said=that the law must be applied evenly meaning Rights which shall not be infringed upon? Which isn't what we have that much should be obvious there is only a faint guise that the two parties are operating Constitutionally.

I could go down a massive list of unconstitutional behavior, selective application of law which is systematic meaning no matter if it's Democrat or Republican they cover for one another you saw that vividly with Obama covering for Bush/Cheney it's two parties one real agenda.
