Lol. You make my point for me. And if rude means saying "lying BS" about his garbage meme on guns, then sure. Have a great day.

I don't make your point for you at all. You have an unfortunate habit of making erroneous statements without even trying to back them up. And you said more than that to him, rudely calling him an SOB. Have a great day, yourself.

I keep trying, and failing, to have a rational dialog about guns, violence, and all the connected factors, with other progressives. Interestingly, I’m not having those problems discussing universal healthcare, taxing the very wealthy, ending corruption, etc, with Republicans.

I had the same problem with the usually brilliant and progressive journalist Zaid Jilani, who just would not admit assault rifles are much deadlier than hunting rifles and pistols. It's an odd crossing that does include many otherwise progressives.

I don’t know about that conversation, but it’s the definition of “assault rifle” that’s the problem in this sort of discourse. If a rifle is semi-automatic, has a removable magazine, and fires at least a .223 round, it *is* just as deadly as an AR-15. 1/2

I want to put policy in place that will actually stop mass shootings, and lessen gun crimes and suicides as well. I fear laws that will result in mass shootings continuing with wooden or illegal weapons, losing us political ground on things like healthcare and wealth inequality.

As you should. One thing I think Is an issue is I taught in a deep south state full of poor hunters, and few of them had assault weapons because they were a luxury they didn't need and couldn't afford. People who get them are usually those who can afford them as toys.

They can be much more expensive. They’re lighter, more comfortable to hold... But in reality, most of the fascination with them comes from TV/Movies/Video games. “Assault rifle” is an aesthetic definition, but it’s also a weapon bought for those aesthetic reasons.
