It's the magazine capacity that needs to be restricted. If you had to breech load a mini-14 with max capacity of three (like a proper hunting rifle), a Vegas/School shooting massacres far less likely.
If the ban could actually get rid of the billions of magazines already out there, sure. But it can’t. We can fix this problem with gun violence. Just not through the guns. We need to do it through universal healthcare and other socioeconomic factors.
California has magazine limits also. No more than 10 rounds. Do something about the 20, 30, 40, 75 and 100 round magazines.
We do have that magazine limit. The San Bernardino shooting happened anyway. There are billions of high-capacity magazines in circulation. Laws only help punish people after they commit a crime. They don’t prevent the crime.
