You’re on the right track. They have much greater socioeconomic equality in ALL of the countries in that graphic than we have here. But between one another, it’s not a massive difference, therefore gun crime isn’t a massive difference despite different gun-ownership rates.
“Once a large percentage of guns are off the streets”... HOW?! Australia’s guns were registered, and they got rid of 600,000 of them. We have over 550 TIMES AS MANY and only 1% are registered! We need to deal in the world as it is, not as we wish it were. Join me in reality.

The reality is that you need to get rid of the guns. Yes, you have a lot of guns, but a total ban and also incentives to hand in weapons, plus strict punishment for those in possession of weapons, will work. It might take 10 years, maybe even 50. But in the end, they'll be gone.

In the future, say, 200 years from now, guns will be banned in every country on Earth. As the population of the earth generally get smarter and more educated, guns will be less and less acceptable. You can try and stall it, but what's the point? America is already behind on this.
