In Canada, no matter what type of gun a civilian owns, it must be modified to ensure it can never hold more than three shells/bullets. If you can’t bag a moose without a machine gun, stay out of the woods.

There are billions of high-capacity magazines in circulation, and no serial numbers or any way to track them. It’s not a “fix.” It’d be nice if it were that easy, but it’s not.

Conservation officers can and will seize your weapons immediately, you then face 10 years in jail. Firearm violations are taken very seriously here. There is no reason this couldn’t work south of the border too.
