It’s not, but it sure is disgusting. Do we have this here? I know of a few propositions for first time offenders, and we do have diversion programs but they are more like a continuation school. I wouldn’t be surprised if CA is doing this too. Who cares about safety, we need $$$
This is why I don’t like the death penalty. DAs/cops want *convictions*. It’s about numbers, not trying to get the actual perpetrator. It’s about whether they can convict the suspect, not about whether the suspect is guilty. #bureaucracy
