I still cannot understand why people would belong to parties and then fight the party about doing what’s right. If all of these people left that party and just won as independents, displacing Dems, you’d probably fix that party. And if the party didn’t change, it’d die. It’s designed to favor the parties because the parties write the election laws. https://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_access_requirements_for_political_candidates_in_New_York … This is, I’m sure, where you’ll say, “See? It’s not impossible!” No. But the rules for independents are tougher to achieve, for no reason.

Partisanship is a powerful opiate. People feel invested in their “team.” The duopoly relies on this so they can continually win elections while doing as little as possible for the people.
