I am a gun owner, I have trigger licks, removed bolts, ammo stored in locked cases. I want to see that in every home that has guns. Period. I used to be NRA member, we left after they refused to support mere safety measures.

Here’s a problem with that: If you have firearms for home protection, how do you use them if they’re stored like this?

Period, I do not own them to take down humans. Never have, but I have been trained to not point them at a human. More people should be trained to never point them at humans, we might just have a different culture by now.

Response has to be tiered. It's fine to play the long game with healthcare, but it's also okay to play the short game for immediate response. If airports can keep those on the watch list from boarding a plane or obtaining visas, it makes no sense to have that not extend to guns.

And it makes no sense to not limit ownership to those who are deemed a risk to society and to say any differently is elevating the rights of those looking to perform these acts above the rights of people to have an expectation of safety.

Deemed a risk to society by whom, and how?

If a person has a history of violence, crimes, a history with the police, like Cruz did, there is no way he should have had access to weapons. And quite frankly if his "rights" were infringed upon, this may (may) have been prevented.
