And it makes no sense to not limit ownership to those who are deemed a risk to society and to say any differently is elevating the rights of those looking to perform these acts above the rights of people to have an expectation of safety.

If a person has a history of violence, crimes, a history with the police, like Cruz did, there is no way he should have had access to weapons. And quite frankly if his "rights" were infringed upon, this may (may) have been prevented.

The government dropped the ball on laws already in place. Just as they did with the Texas church shooter. More restriction of our rights wouldn’t help the government do its job when it’s failing now.
