Don’t worry Steve, I am perfectly capable of keeping two (and more!) separate issues in my mind. Yes, there are many areas we humans can and should progress. I don’t see why I have to chose exactly one.

But you realize universal healthcare will help WAY more people, save more lives, AND will reduce suicide and mass-shooting rates, right? Shouldn’t we prioritize that first?

Absolutely - lucky to be living in a country with universal health care myself. However, I fail to see how these things are mutually exclusive, hence can be discussed separately. Unless you can convince me that stricter gun laws harm the initiative for better health care.
