I am by no means a public figure, but my job explicitly precludes me from openly speaking about certain subjects with my own identity. Plus there are many who are more vulnerable than you (or I). last statement is correct but holds no logic to impose upon all/make others cowards.
If your job says not to, shouldn't you just not do it? Or leave your job?

If you take a job at a company or organization & the rule is that you can't do a certain thing, for example ride motorcycles, while you're there (like an athlete I know), & you really want to ride motorcycles, you should leave that job, not just ride motorcycles "anonymously".
