I'm not sure who you're referencing, but neither @sldmfree nor any other progressive comrades suffer from Stockholm syndrome or are "lost causes". It's an odd choice of words for someone who claims the parties are the problem. They are, but so is divisiveness and exclusion.

One of the people in the thread donated money to the dumbest Democrat in the race, who happened to win a QUARTER BILLION DOLLARS in the lottery, because they didn't like that I thought we should talk to conservatives about universal healthcare. So, you tell me.

Admittedly, that is not the most favorable interaction, but it is still not an irreversible action. I happen to agree that we should be talking to everyone. Some "conservatives" don't even know what that means anymore. They don't know about Teddy, Eisenhower days. Education.
