Nobody is ever owed a vote. Ever. Gore, and Hillary Clinton, both failed to earn enough votes where it counted. And they lost. It's on them, not any other candidates. Period.

If 538 Floridian Nader voters had voted Gore instead we wouldn't have destroyed Iraq. Afghanistan, maybe still, but not Iraq. But I do in fact lay that mostly on the Democrats choosing--twice in a row--candidates that could lose to George W. Bush.

Gore was a bad candidate. He probably would have been an ineffective, corporate- and military-appeasing President. And a lot of people would still be alive today if he'd won. I don't owe any candidate my vote. Again, I'm not stanning for Democrats.

(untagged Jenny) But the lesser of two evils is still *better* than the greater of two evils, if those are the only options. And until third parties and independents can be viable candidates for President, those will be the two options.

The lesser of two evils is how you end up with Bush v Gore and then Trump v Clinton. You can't get better candidates from the Dems by voting for the Dems. You can only do it by not voting for them, which will eventually force them to change. They don't change if they're winning.

Did they change in 2001? 2005? 2017?

Not enough. Because they're still getting paid.

But the next time they lose an election to an authoritarian right-wing buffoon, that's when they'll finally get the message? Anyway standing on principle has consequences: http://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/

So does *not* standing on principles. At least one has dignity and hope. The other one is basucally begging. It's pathetic. I advocate non-voting on my site. It's not a "gotcha". Just FYI. It's the only way to fix things with a Trump/Clinton type of choice.

So this has been a bit contentious and let me just say that I understand where you're coming from, I think you're trying to do the right thing, and you're putting your money where your mouth is by running. I disagree, strongly, but I get it.

If two parties believe they must be chosen between, it doesn't take long before they both figure out it's easier to let the businesses win and at least they, the parties, can get rich while it happens. They don't care about us. They *only* care about money and power.
