It's a captive market. Another example of a captive market is food and drinks in movie theaters and stadiums. Are prices higher or lower there than they are outside?

It is not a captive market because of multiple sources. Before the 50's there was good medicine and affordable why has it become what is today?

Multiple sources don't mean it's not a captive market. There are multiple vendors in stadiums, too. It's captive because when you need healthcare - for example, you're in a bad car crash or are diagnosed with cancer - your choice is to either pay whatever they ask or die.

Life-saving? Mostly taxpayers, through the Orphan Drug Act, which provides federal funding to cover R&D for medical conditions rare enough that it is cost-prohibitive for a company to finance it themselves. If that's your argument, I'm sorry to say you've already lost.

It is called crony capitalism what we have. capitalism would break up Monopoly cause by orphan drug programs. When there is a will by the people there will be a better way and there will be reward for innovation.

But if you took away the Orphan Drug Act, you'd take away drugs for rare conditions. One of those drugs saved my father. I was there when he was treated for it. You can read about what the pharmaceutical rep told me here: https://www.voteforcox.com/news/2017/11/21/why-net-neutrality-matters …
