With the #GOPTaxScam taking away the (already far too low) $250 worth of supplies teachers could formerly write off on their taxes, this should make up for a decent chunk of that for teachers teaching in district 39.

When I'm elected to congress, as part of my push to base congressional pay on their district's wages, I'll be donating *my own* salary above the median in #cd39 - about $94k/year, pre-tax - to pay teachers back for school supplies they're forced to buy.

And to be clear, I think it's an absolute travesty that teachers are expected to pay for *any* school supplies out of their own income in the first place. It's like asking firefighters to buy their own hoses. It's nonsense. And it's unacceptable. 3/

We need to refocus our country on doing what's right here at home. Not "doing what's convenient" or "doing what's cheap" but "doing what's right." And this is only *one* of the ways I will work to right our wrongs.
