I consider myself a leftist. As such, I consider both parties unacceptably bad. But that's not the same thing as being the same. Claiming such leaves huge gaps in our argument that can be exploited by centrists, who will rattle off differences.

The only difference is the image each one attempts to put forth. They're the same in every way that matters.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, then.

Name one way they're different that actually matters in terms of the lives of the people as a whole.

I could see dems pass legislation to protect net neutrality, not so much with repubs. I could see repubs making abortion either no longer a right, or so difficult to obtain that it has the same effect as no longer being a right. I can't see dems passing the tax bill repubs did.

Dems had many chances to do something on net neutrality and never did. They'd structure the tax thing differently and donitvthrough loopholes, end result the same. Abortion is due to religion, not party.

There are also numerous dems who won't compromise an inch on abortion, which serves as a kind of check on those will. To a woman seeking an abortion, there's an obvious difference between having dems in power vs repubs.

Wedge issues are designed to *remain issues*. The parties are the same. Both manipulate issues and voters to drive wedges and gain power and money. That's *all* they both do.

Even if I accept that as true, it would still make a difference which is in charge. True, neither would resolve the issue, but restrictions on abortion would relax under dems and increase under republicans, so the amount of people getting them would be affected.

Not true. SCOTUS ruled already and will rule again if necessary.
